Lok Virsa (The National Institute of Folk & Traditional Heritage) is in Islamabad near at Garden Avenue near Shakarparian Hills.

 
The Museum is a platform for creating awareness of cultural legacy by collecting, documenting, disseminating and projecting folk & traditional heritage. 
 
The institute documents and conducts surveys of traditional culture. 
 
It has on display jewellery, ivory, woodwork, metalwork, bone work, embroidered costumes and block printing. Traditional architecture facades exhibiting such skills as fresco, mirror work and marble inlay; tile, mosaic and stucco tracery are also displayed.
 
The Heritage Reference Library is well equipped with resource data on ethnography, anthropology, folk music, art, history and crafts. Books on culture, heritage, audio and video-cassettes of folk and classical vocal and instrumental music can also be purchased at its sales centre.
