At a distance of 120 km from Karachi while travelling towards hyderabad on National Highway is Keenjhar Lake famous as Kalri Lake.
It is situated in Thatta District, Sindh, Pakistan and is 18 km away from Thatta town.
Kalri Lake is the largest freshwater lake of Pakistan. It is the main source of drinking water for Karachi. The lake draws bulk of water from River Indus
through a canal KB Feeder which originates from Kotri Barrage.
The lake has been declared a ramsar site and a wildlife sanctuary. It is home to winter migratory birds like Ducks, Geese, Flamingos, Cormorants, Shorebirds, Herons, Egrets, Ibises, Terns, Coots and Gulls.
Kalri lake is also a popular tourist resot for pepole of Karachi, Hyderabad and Thatta.
Famous Sindhi folklore of Sindhi legend Noori Jam Tamachi also took place around the lake.
In the middle of the lake there is a shrine marking the Noori's grave. It is a famous spot and can be seen from the shore.
Hundreds of devotees visit the shrine to offer fateha.
