Attock fort is situated 110 km west of Islamabad on Grand Trunk Road (G.T Road) near a small town Attock Khurd in Punjab.
The fort was built during the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar in year 1581-1583.
Attock Fort stands tall and elegant at the junction of two rivers i.e. River Indus & River Kabul.
Here the water tide is very high, and the rock forming the banks is of a dark-colored slate, polished by the force of the stream, so as to shine like black marble in clear blue stream.
